Coalville Lilliput Montessori

The nursery opened in 1999 in one of only two listed buildings in Coalville. Close to the centre of town, the former Railway Hotel is a victorian building with characteristically large rooms giving us lots of indoor space. So much so, that we have an indoor play area where children can play energetically when it is not fit to go outside. This space also doubles up as a dining room for pre-schoolers which helps your child prepare for “big school”.

Our babies have a large room overlooking the garden which is divided at low level to separate toddlers and walkers from the crawlers. This means that your children have plenty of space to develop and play in a safe manner.

As your child reaches 2 years old they will move across the hall to two large rooms, one of which is dedicated to artwork and messy play. This gives your child the opportunity to be creative and messy at the same time with water, sand, paint and glue and all the other things that you don't want on your carpet at home! There is also a dark room where your child can have a variety of sensory experiences with lights and fluorescent toys.

Upstairs we have a large open-plan room as your child progresses to 3 years old. This has direct access out onto our recently built roof garden so that you child can have free flow access to the fresh air, giving them some element of choice of whether they want to be inside or out when they are playing and learning.

Across this roof garden are an art room for creative work and messy play, and a quiet room for reading and less hectic play. These two rooms are used for the before and after school club at the start and end of the day, and more regularly during the school holidays when children are not out on trips.

The main pre-school room also has direct access down to our rear garden. This has an area of safety surfacing with wooden cabin, climbing area and slide so your child can get plenty of physical exercise out in the fresh air. There are also quiet areas for other games and role-play, as well as planting and areas for dens.
