Anstey Lilliput Montessori

The Lilliput Montessori family of nurseries began in Anstey in 1994 with the conversion of the village Liberal Club. In 2005 the nursery was extended into the neighbouring premises which was converted into our Baby Unit and linked to the existing building. The baby unit for the under two's has its own entrance to the side but is linked internally to the rest of the building. The accommodation for the babies is a large spacious room divided at low level to separate the toddlers and walkers from the crawlers. This means that your children have plenty of space to develop and play in a safe manner. They also have their own bathroom facility, milk kitchen and laundry to the side.

The link through to the main building goes directly into one of the home rooms for the 2 to 3 year olds. This helps to ease your child's transition into the next age group as they can become familiar with the room next door. This is also used as a sensory room where your child can enjoy a variety of experiences with light projectors and fluorescent toys.

There are two rooms for the 2 to 3 age group with specific areas for quiet and messy play. This gives your child a degree of choice over what activities they want to do and how long to do them. There is a separate bathroom for nappy changing and toilet training, and keeping their hands and teeth clean.

On the first floor we have a large open plan area and two smaller rooms for your children as they progress to 3 and 4 year olds, one of which is specifically for art and craft, there is also a separate bathroom. These rooms are equipped with age-appropriate resources for learning and creative play, which help your child gain knowledge and develop their physical and social skills to prepare them for primary school.

There is direct access from upstairs to the garden which has recently been redeveloped with log cabins, a Forest School area, a climbing wall and slides all surrounded by safety surfacing. This gives your child plenty of scope for physical outdoor activity. There are also quiet areas and digging and planting areas to give more opportunities for learning and play outdoors.
